Half the time your nutrient problem started before you even opened the bottle O_O

There’s a gang of dissolved ions all trying to push their own agenda in your root zone at the same time.

Calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, ammonium…

These aren’t just “nutrients in water.”

Nope O_o

They compete.

Calcium shows up as Ca²⁺ and starts fighting for the same exchange sites and uptake channels as other positively charged ions.

Too much calcium can suppress magnesium.

Too much potassium can suppress both.

Too much magnesium can throw calcium out of balance.

This is not a friendly little potluck.

It’s chemical politics.

And then hard water shows up with bicarbonates and carbonates and starts quietly messing with your medium too.

Hard water doesn’t just bring extra calcium and magnesium.

It brings alkalinity.

That means it resists pH change and can slowly push your root zone upward over time, even when you think you already “pH’d it right.”

So you’re over here blaming the nutrient line…

while your tap water has been freelancing behind your back the whole time 😀

That’s why some growers swear by RO water.
